As an Aerobics Instructor at the HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre, you will play a crucial role in improving the overall well-being and quality of life for individuals affected by cancer. By leading movement sessions specifically designed to cater to their needs, you will contribute to enhancing their physical health, mental strength, and emotional resilience. Your dedication and expertise will create a supportive and empowering environment, helping participants build a sense of community and fostering a positive impact on their journey towards healing and recovery.

Description
As an Aerobics Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and leading aerobics and movement sessions tailored to the unique needs of cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers at the HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre. Your main focus will be to create a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive exercise environment that supports participants in their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and design aerobics routines suitable for individuals with varying fitness levels, taking into consideration the challenges faced by cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.
2. Plan and lead 45-minute aerobics sessions, incorporating warm-up and cool-down exercises to ensure a well-balanced workout.
3. Offer modifications and adaptations to accommodate participants with different physical abilities and health concerns.
4. Attend periodic meetings with the Program Lead to discuss session feedback and improvement ideas.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Orientation to HopeSpring, and understanding of the unique needs of the cancer community will be provided.
Working Conditions: Working Conditions:
• The volunteer role takes place at a local community centre in Kitchener.
• Sessions will be conducted indoors, using a gym area.
• The Aerobics Instructor may need to assist in setting up the exercise space before each session.
• Volunteer instructors may have the flexibility to choose a suitable time slot based on their availability and the community centre's schedule.
• Training and ongoing support will be provided to help you understand the unique needs of cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

Transportation: NONE Needed


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Anytime
