Description We are recruiting Assistant Coach volunteers to help support our STEAM League program for the Late Spring Season, happening weekly from May 13th to June 21st. Assistant Coaches help lead teams in hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math activities designed to build curiosity and creativity. Volunteers will support youth learning & engagement and ensure every participant can access and engage with the programming in a manner that fits their unique learning, and physical circumstances.
STEAM League programs are run at various sites around Kitchener-Waterloo between the hours of 4:15pm-8:45pm Mon-Wed and 9:15am-4:15pm Saturday: - Accelerator Centre (295 Hagey Blvd, Waterloo) - Chandler Mowat Community Centre (222 Chandler Dr, Kitchener) - Kingsdale Community Centre (72 Wilson Ave, Kitchener) - Vidyard (1 Queen St N, Kitchener) - Online through Google Meet
Volunteers are expected to have their own transportation (car or bus) to and from programming sites.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteers will receive STEAM-based training by the LAUNCH team, information about the program(s), materials for activities and a LAUNCH t-shirt to wear at all sessions. Working Conditions: Please note: This opportunity involves working with kids from ages 4 to 13 years old. As such, all volunteers (age 18+) will be required to submit a police record check. Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime Volunteer Assistant Coaches are expected to commit to one group of youth for a period of 6 weeks beginning May 13, 2023. Groups meet for 2 hours once per week on either an evening (Mon, Tues, Wed, or Thur) or during the day on Saturday's. The minimum time commitment is 10 hours over a 6-week period (2hrs/week), however, students can earn more hours volunteering by signing up to help more than 1 group.
