   About the Position

By joining our Youth in Food Systems team, you can learn about and explore food systems while gaining skills, communicating your learnings with peers, and building capabilities for future career (agri-food and others!) and personal aspirations.

Description
Our Youth Food Market is back for 2023, and we're looking for high school students to join us as Market Leaders!

The Youth Food Market is a series of youth-led, affordable produce stalls. The project aims to support local food systems & food accessibility, and provide youth with leadership and skill building opportunities.

What does joining the team look like?

Our Market Leaders lead the design, development, and execution of the Market. They are responsible for everything from sourcing food to determining prices to creating marketing materials and running pop-up produce stalls.

Activities include:
- Virtual and in-person team planning sessions
- Independent project work
- Market days!
- End-of-season celebration


Position Qualifications

Ideal for: An Individual, Student Placement
Age: 14+

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Market Leaders will work alongside peers, staff, and community mentors through all stages of the project. They will receive resource, training, and ample opportunity for collaboration.
Working Conditions: Hybrid or in person work.
Accessibility:
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Anytime
Planning sessions will occur on weekdays, virtually or in person. Markets will be held on weekday evenings and Saturdays. Independent work may be completed anytime, in line with preset deadlines.
