Impact Statement SPECTRUM's peer support groups are great opportunities to meet other people, to talk about whatever you currently have on your mind, and to make new friends! These events are ideal for those that want to socialize in an 2SLGBTQ+ friendly setting.
Rainbow Newcomers Connect is an informal, discussion based, drop-in program. This group is a space for anyone that identifies as a newcomer within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Description As a co-host for the Rainbow Newcomers Connect, volunteers will require social and group facilitation skills and demonstrated empathy and sensitivity to the subject matter. Facilitators will be expected to welcome visitors, introduce them to others present, inform them of SPECTRUM resources if fitting, and facilitate and direct the conversations when necessary.
Role Responsibilities//What You’ll be Doing: -Facilitate or direct conversations and encourage participants to support one another, ensuring everyone who wants to participate gets the opportunity to do so -Represent SPECTRUM, greeting participants as they arrive, and introduce them to SPECTRUM and other participants -Provide an atmosphere that is inclusive of all where individuals feel comfortable to share their thoughts and experiences -Maintain a clean physical space at the end of each session -Demonstrate time management, ensuring sessions remain on time

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteers will receive orientation and training in facilitation and other items as needed. Working Conditions: Hybrid meetings. Accessibility: Accessible work space Transportation: NONE Needed

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Weekday - Evening The group meets twice per month, on the second and fourth Sunday. Volunteer shifts are typically 2:45pm to 5:15pm.
