   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Transgender Peer Support Group is an informal, discussion based, drop-in program. This group is a space for anyone that identifies within the trans/gender variant umbrella, including but not limited to: transgender, transsexual, genderqueer, gender fluid, non-binary, genderless, agender, non-gendered, third gender, two spirit, bigender, transman, transwoman, neutrois, questioning and beyond. It meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday and 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. (This group is 18+). Visit the calendar for details.

Description
As a co-host for the Transgender Peer Support Group, volunteers will require social and group facilitation skills and demonstrated empathy and sensitivity to the subject matter. Facilitators will be expected to welcome visitors, introduce them to others present, inform them of SPECTRUM resources if fitting, and facilitate and direct the conversations when necessary.

Role Responsibilities//What You’ll be Doing:
-Facilitate or direct conversations and encourage participants to support one another, ensuring everyone who wants to participate gets the opportunity to do so
-Represent SPECTRUM, greeting participants as they arrive, and introduce them to SPECTRUM and other participants
-Provide an atmosphere that is inclusive of all where individuals feel comfortable to share their thoughts and experiences
-Maintain a clean physical space at the end of each session
-Demonstrate time management, ensuring sessions remain on time

Training Details: Volunteers will receive orientation and training in facilitation and other items as needed.
Working Conditions: Hybrid meetings.

Transportation: NONE Needed


Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Weekday - Evening
The Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. This position requires about 6 hours per month.
