   About the Position

Impact Statement
Inspire and educate local youth by sharing your career story, expertise and industry experience in a classroom setting, answering questions and giving them advice as they being their career exploration journey.

Description
The Business & Education Partnership connects local educators with community members who want to volunteer their time and expertise to support students' career development.

We are seeking community members who would like to be added to our roster of community career speakers. When you apply, you will be able to indicate what kinds of topics or learning activities you are interested in sharing and where you are located or willing to travel or not in Waterloo Region (including virtually).

We are a very flexible but rewarding opportunity with no minimal committment. Volunteers have the option to accept or decline invitations, but our hope is that will fulfill at least one request per year.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: The BEP provides presentation tips and resources to help community members effectively share their knowledge, expertise and/or career story with local students. Speakers are bringing their own story to life for students. Some preparation is expected.
Working Conditions: Volunteering in local schools and/or virtually under the supervision of school staff. Volunteers will always be supported by the classroom teacher.
Accessibility: Designated accessible parking space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Weekday - Daytime
Time is flexible to your availability and varies based on the needs of the educator seeking a volunteer. For example, a speaking opportunity in a classroom may be only an hour or less.
