Impact Statement: The Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support is a community-based organization that inspires hope and helps to create a welcoming, compassionate and inclusive Waterloo Region for refugee claimants. MCRS supports refugees through their claim process, provides settlement support, builds communities of mutual support and works to educate and encourage community mobilization, helping to facilitate a positive transition for refugee claimants in the community.
Description: The Development and Communications Assistant will work alongside the Development and Communications Coordinator to design, implement, and evaluate social media campaigns and organizational communication on multiple platforms. The Assistant must be familiar with platforms including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and have a keen understanding of communications strategies within the non-profit sector. They must also be capable of completing in-depth research, creating high-quality content, and developing and implementing communications strategies with key community stakeholders.

Additionally, the Assistant must be able to communicate in the tone of MCRS; understanding our values and our vision. This role must be filled by someone who has a passion for welcoming newcomers and for communications.
Training Details: The Assistant will be oriented and trained by the Development and Communications Coordinator.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: This role requires the volunteer to be in the MCRS office at least one day per week.
