Impact Statement The Grand River Film Festival (GRFF) is an incorporated non-profit entering with a mission to celebrate and inspire community through the shared experience of film. Through both an annual festival and year-round events, GRFF hosts local, Canadian, and international films with a programming mandate to explore diverse and unique perspectives and an aim to inspire community engagement. GRFF recognizes the power of film to connect people and works in partnership with organizations across the region to deliver impactful programming that builds relationships and encourages meaningful conversation.

Description Are you looking to get involved in the community and expand your portfolio? The Grand River Film Festival has a volunteer opportunity for you! We are seeking a photographer/or photographers to assist with photographic coverage of GRFF events, including an upcoming event on Saturday, October 1st in Waterloo, the upcoming festival in May 2023, and to assist the Communications and Social Media teams with local and community coverage.
• Photographic coverage of GRFF year-round events, starting with a screening on Saturday, October 1st in Waterloo. Additional screenings will be held in November 2022 and February 2023. Photographic coverage of the upcoming festival running May 2023 in Waterloo Region. • Board of Directors, committee members and event volunteers • Community-based photos to support GRFF’s newsletter, website and social media channels

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: You will consult with the Director of Volunteers on all upcoming events and requirements. Working Conditions: • Experience in capturing action and people photographs in high resolution • Strong visual sense for capturing emotion, movement, people connecting • A high-resolution camera and related equipment • Knowledge of photographic software and editing skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work independently, as well as to collaborate effectively • Strong organizational and responsive photo management skills • An interest in and commitment to community events and engagement Accessibility: Support volunteers with special needs Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Evening, Anytime Between now and the May festival, meetings will be held virtually, connecting with the social media and communications team to understand their needs and provide input on the marketing direction.
GRFF’s annual festival is in May 2023, in the Waterloo Region with most screenings starting at 7:30 pm (scheduled to be finalized closer to the event). The photographer will need to be on site pre-screening to capture action shots of attendees and GRFF volunteers as well as capture images if there are any post-screening events such as guest speakers or Q&A's. Complimentary tickets will be provided to the volunteer to participate in the events, as well as a GRFF volunteer t-shirt.
Other events may be scheduled throughout the year.
