Impact Statement
By volunteering in a thrift shop you assist in the process of "Reducing, Reusing, Recycling" AND help to raise valuable resources for peace and justice programs in Canada and around the world. You may only be one person, but be one person who makes a difference by volunteering with us!

MCC's Thrift shops take gently used clothing, housewares and furniture and turn those donations into cash to support Mennonite Central Committee programs.
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, shares God's love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice.

Description
Elmira Thrift & Gift is seeking volunteers in the following positions:

Cashiers: friendly people who are trustworthy with money, patient & respectful towards customers and can learn to process cash and debit/credit payments

Donation Receiver: friendly folks to accept donations from donors with a smile, offer a sincere thank you, and perform initial sort of donations

Clothing Sorter/Pricing: we need lots of help to sort and price the high volume of donations!

Retail Merchandising: if you have a flare for creating displays that show off the treasures of thrift we have a place for you!

Age: 14+

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: In-house training and job shadowing provided, at no cost to volunteer
Working Conditions: Volunteers are working in a fast paced team setting, interacting with diverse customers and other volunteers. Most positions require standing, freedom of movement and some moderate lifting.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space
Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
3 or 4 hour shifts weekly or monthly
