   About the Position

Impact Statement
Kitchener Public Library volunteers enhance library services in our community and make a difference every day!

Our Youth Writer-in-Residence volunteers can give their writing a platform on Kitchener Public Library's website (https://www.kpl.org/teens), and earn volunteer hours for their work.

Description
Create one written work per month
Review written work to ensure it's free of any spelling or grammatical errors
Create one book cover image per month (this is optional)
Submit written work and optional book cover image to the Librarian, Teen Services via e-mail
Record hours in the volunteer portal on a monthly basis
All written works are subject to minor edits before publication by the library.

Skill(s): Written Communication, Self-Motivation, Creating


Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Successful applicants will be invited to submit a portfolio of up to three pieces of their writing that display their strength in their preferred medium (prose, poetry, etc.). Further training will be provided through email.
Working Conditions: Virtual role - volunteer at home
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: NONE Needed


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Anytime
May - August 2024
