   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Sun Life Waterloo Busker Carnival is a renowned not-for-profit, volunteer-driven event celebrating street performance art since 1989. The carnival features a diverse range of international artists, from acrobats and comedians to fire breathers, offering free entertainment to families in Uptown Waterloo.

The 2024 carnival runs from Thursday August 22 to Sunday August 25.

Applications must be submitted by Friday April 19.

This role oversees the carnival's branding presence.

• Define and implement the festival's physical branding presence through strategic signage, promotions, and swag.
• Design logos, graphical elements, and marketing materials.
• Negotiate ad space purchases with the local newspaper, contributing to the design of an online program and ensuring timely submission of materials.
• Secure the best prices for bulk purchases of promotional items and signage.
• Deploy innovative marketing strategies to enhance the carnival's visual branding and attendee experience.
• Manage the production and quality control of marketing materials from inception to delivery.
• Participate in the physical setup of signage around the festival site, assisting the team to ensure optical placement and visibility.

• Extensive experience in graphic design and branding, with a strong proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).

Training Details: Training on the details specific to the carnival will be provided on the job. The applicant is expected to bring a knowledge of design software to the job.

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more

This is an annual commitment with peak activity periods during the lead up to the event in August. The hours each year vary based on project needs and the event timeline but typically are between 50 and 75 hours annually. The executive committee meets weekly during July and August and monthly prior to that.
