Description
Reading a story to an individual with intellectual disabilities, you give meaning to pictures in the book by engaging the imagination. This activity inspires connection, improves mental wellbeing and is truly enjoyed by many of the people we support. This position is in person working with individuals with high care needs.

The ideal candidate is patient, comfortable with self-initiation, and has a positive attitude.

Commitment: 1hr/week, min. 12 weeks (to establish trust with assigned person)

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Free Training and Orientation provided. (Some self-directed modules available online)
Working Conditions: Inside a group residence in rural Elmira. Staff are nearby but not immediately supervising. A car is required to get to this location.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Daytime
1-hour shift weekly (day & time flexible)
