Impact Statement
Kitchener Public Library volunteers enhance library services in our community and make a difference every day!

Description
English Conversation Circles provide a safe space for newcomers and refugees to practice their English and connect with the community. Working as a team, volunteers lead activities and group discussions that facilitate conversational English and share information about Canadian culture and customs.

Volunteers may need to prepare content before each weekly program (approximately 20 minutes).

Ideal for: An Individual
Age: 18+


Area(s) of Interest: Library/Research , Mentoring / Tutoring, Newcomer Support

Skill(s): Communicate in Plain Language, Verbal Communication, Plan and Coordinate, Motivate Others, Empathy


Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Role-specific training; plus we offer program outlines and resources and ongoing support.
Working Conditions: Library room
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime
Saturday mornings from November - December 9/23and January 13 to June 13/2024; we can accommodate vacation days
