Impact Statement Volunteer Drivers provide transportation services for a variety of family needs. This could include driving children to/from school, going to a program or access visit with family or simply helping a child get to an appointment or activity.

Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region is currently taking applications for VOLUNTEER DRIVERS to assist our youngest community members and their families. Volunteer Drivers provide transportation as a key component to creating a network of support for families and children. As a Volunteer Driver, you get a chance to help others and make new connections, while having your mileage reimbursed!

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteer pre-service training sessions, driver orientation, and child car seat training is mandatory and provided. Working Conditions: You must have a G license with a good driving record, a vehicle in safe working condition, and 1 million dollars in liability insurance on your vehicle. We schedule drives during the timeslot that you indicate you are available to volunteer. Mileage for the drives is reimbursed. Child car seat training and car seats are provided. Onboarding and Orientation is required for all positions. We require volunteers to undergo an in-depth background check which includes Police Records Check, Child Welfare Check and a Reference Check. This is required due to the nature of the positions in a vulnerable sector. Accessibility: Transportation: Car required

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening 9 months to a one-year commitment is required due to the length of the orientation/onboarding and training. Volunteers help out once a week or more depending on availability. Current openings for Drivers are: • School Day Drives 7:30-9:30 am or 2:30 – 4:30 pm (Daily/Weekly) • Mornings 9:00 – 12:00 pm • Evenings 4:00 – 8:00 pm • Weekends (Sat/Sun) You let us know when you are available during the openings listed above – and we will schedule your rides during those times.
