Description
Do you like meeting new people? Our tuck shop is a wonderful place to say hello and meet centre participates. Are you looking for a volunteer role that keeps you busy? Our tuck shop provides premade lunches, snacks and beverages to our community centre participates on their way into or out of a program and residents who want to sit back and catch up with friends. You will also be responsible to handle cash (for example make change) and help provide an outstanding customer experience.
Although food and cash handling and customer service experience is an asset it is not necessary. We are looking for individuals who are interested in learning and helping us to bring back this popular service to our community centre.
Weekday hours (8:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.)
Student volunteers are welcome.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: • Tuck shop manual provided
• Hands on training on kitchen equipment and cash system
Working Conditions: • Standing for extended periods of time
• Mulli-tasking for example making coffee and entering an order
• Depending on the time of day there may be line-up of customers.
• Adult and senior community centre setting
Accessibility: Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Daytime
• Available shifts: Monday – Friday 8:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.
• Commitment: regular shift once a week
• Specific starting date and volunteer shift will be discussed with the volunteer supervisor during the interview.
• This opportunity can be for the summer or continue into fall upon volunteer supervisor approval.
