The Accessibility Advisory Group (AAG) represents an opportunity for Kitchener Public Library to gain meaningful input from community members with varied lived experiences with disabilities, to work together to achieve more accessible, inclusive library spaces, collections, programs, and services.

Description What We're Looking For • An understanding of the needs and concerns of people with disabilities gained through personal, professional, or community experience • Enthusiastic about supporting equity and inclusion • Experience in community or committee-based work is an asset • Willing to learn about public libraries • Ability to participate in meetings during business hours
What You'll Do • Provide input and recommendations to library staff on the accessibility of library spaces, collections, programs, and services • Provide input and review the library's multi-year accessibility plan

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Training will be incorporated into meetings. Working Conditions: Meetings may take place at any Kitchener Public Library location. Members will be provided appropriate resources to support their full participation in the Accessibility Advisory Group. Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Weekday - Daytime Four (4) meetings per year or as needed to fulfill duties; minimum commitment of 1 - 2 years.
