   About the Position

Impact Statement
COVID-19 Volunteers continue to make a positive impact in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our community and world through Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

As one of our donors stated "The world needs MCC now more then ever."

By volunteering in a thrift shop you assist in the process of "Reducing, Reusing, Recycling" AND help to raise valuable resources for peace and justice programs in Canada and around the world. You may only be one person, but be one person who makes a difference by volunteering with us!

MCC’s Thrift shops take gently used clothing, housewares, and furniture and turn it into cash to support Mennonite Central Committee programs locally & globally.

Retail Floor: volunteers are needed to stock shelves and assist customers in their shopping

-Assist customers on the sales floor and display counters
-Be familiar with the shop prices and products
-Empty out the change rooms
-Straighten merchandise on racks and shelving
-Dusting when/where needed
-Stock shelves in the shop with priced items
-Explain shop operations and how MCC uses the money raised
-Additional tasks as needed
-Ability to speak second language an asset (Spanish & Arabic primarily)

Ability to work as part of a team with a healthy balance of patience and energy required.

Position Qualifications

Ideal for: An Individual, Student Placement
Age: 14+
COVID-19 Vactionation Required: Yes

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: In-house training and job shadowing provided, at no cost to volunteer
Working Conditions: Volunteers are working in team setting, interacting with diverse customers and other volunteers. Positions may require standing, freedom of movement and some moderate lifting.

Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
3 or 4 hour shifts preferred but can be flexible
