With ever-changing exhibitions and programming, THEMUSEUM presents a stimulating opportunity for a volunteer placement.

Description
THEMUSEUM is looking for energetic, bright, and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team!
As a Volunteer Gallery Interpreter, you will be involved in important functions of our upcoming summer and fall exhibitions. These tasks may include exhibition security, directing traffic, interpreting artifacts, and promoting THEMUSEUM’s Vision “To awe, inspire and enlighten” by interacting and answering visitors’ questions.
Our exhibits and public programs feature a range of topics including space, dinosaurs, science, technology, and art. Our featured exhibit for the summer and fall seasons will be Kaleidoscope; an exploration of colour, light, and pattern.

Ideal for: An Individual, Student Placement
Age: 14+

Area(s) of Interest: Arts/Culture, Communication/Public Relations, Heritage/Museum

Skill(s): Customer Service, Public Speaking/Presentation Skills, Verbal Communication, Community Knowledge/Awareness, Problem Solving, Self-Motivation


Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Interview, orientation, and training to be scheduled after application is received.
Working Conditions: EFFORT – PHYSICAL AND SENSORY
• Active listening
• On busy days, volunteers may be working in spaces with large crowds and loud ambient noise levels. Certain exhibits have their own themed music.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 10lbs.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime, Anytime
3 hours per week, weekdays or weekends.
