Impact Statement The KWCO’s Board of Director’s mission, in addition to exercising its legal and fiduciary responsibilities, is as follows: to support the orchestra’s mandate and activities through active involvement and through the provision of professional expertise; to promote the orchestra’s interests by nurturing relationships on its behalf and bringing these interested parties and their resources to the orchestras; and to ensure the orchestra’s long-term health by practicing good governance and oversight.

Description •Experience with marketing, digital/social media, business, or legal expertise, are all considered assets. •Each board member will be issued a portfolio including obligations to help the organization. •Board members are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s mission and values, maintain sufficient knowledge of and oversight of the activities of the organization to provide stewardship, and commit the time necessary to fulfill their responsibilities. •Strong community engagement and belief in developing and supporting the arts in Kitchener-Waterloo and Canadian musicians and composers

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: You do not need to be a musician to sit on the board, but a love of classical music is beneficial. No previous experience required. Instruction freely given at meetings. Working Conditions: Board terms - 3 years approx. with option to run for a 2nd 3-year term. 10 meetings per year. Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours a month. Attendance at the KWCO concerts online until such time as live concerts are permissible and then in person, COVID protocols permitting. Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Weekday - Evening Meetings are usually weekday evenings at 7 or 7:30, details decided by members, and usually held at Waterloo Police Station or Renaissance School if not virtual meetings. AGM is evening of 28 October so that is beginning of a new season.
