   About the Position

Impact Statement
To proudly provide valued services and build community and Corporate capacity by inspiring volunteers, staff, elected officials and all community members to be active contributions to Kitchener's Community Vision.

Social Support Telephone Volunteers engage in friendly and casual conversation with frail, isolated seniors, adults with disabilities and/or persons living with dementia with the intention of checking in their well-being, providing social connections and/or directing them to community resource.

Ability to listen without judgement and support someone without trying to counsel, influence or provide advice.
Must be comfortable having conversations over the phone.
Fluent, efficient and articulate in English.
Weekly commitment for one year
Specific day and time to be discussed after placement. Typically shifts are 2-3 hours during the week during regular business hours.

Age: 18+

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: In-person training prior to first shift
Approximately: 2 - 2.5 hours
Working Conditions: On-site, indoors
Volunteers will have a separate workspace to accommodate COVID-19 health and safety protocols
Accessibility: Accessible work space

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Daytime
Monday - Friday 9:30 - 12 p.m.or 1 - 3:30 p.m.
1 shift per week.
