   About the Position

Impact Statement
To proudly provide valued services and build community and Corporate capacity by inspiring volunteers, staff, elected officials and all community members to be active contributions to Kitchener's Community Vision.

Description
The City of Kitchener is looking for ways to improve water quality, reduce flood risks, and improve your park experience by adding new park features, including stormwater measures.

In this varied role, you could support City staff by doing one, or more of the following activities:
• Collect information and/or feedback from residents and park visitors;
• Encourage residents to participate by handing out flyers in a canvassing manner;
• Walk through a park or open space and direct residents to the engagement tent;
• Answer questions and direct difficult questions to staff;
• Setting up and taking down from an engagement event (occasional moderate lifting);
• Hand out marketing items and parks engagement information;
• Participate in focus groups to provide your input on different projects;
• Assist in tidying up Child Minding areas; and/or
• Hand out popsicles, ice cream or other prepackaged food items at in-person events;
• so much more!

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: · Part of the application form
· Email with details about the volunteer shift sent 2 -3 days prior to the shift
· Hands on training the day of the volunteer shift

Working Conditions: · Many of the opportunities will take place outdoors in parks and open spaces
· Other locations may include city and school facilities

Accessibility: Support volunteers with special needs, Support Newcomers
Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Anytime
Volunteers must commit the volunteer for a minimum of 1 shift (approximately 2 -4 hours) between March - November. Engagement dates and times will vary.
