Impact Statement Make a difference in only one hour per week!
By meeting with someone who is an immigrant or refugee to Canada, you can improve someone's quality of life by supporting their English learning goals through conversation, friendship, and encouragement.
|
|
Description As a Conversational English Partner you will be matched with someone who immigrated to Canada for weekly English conversation. Conversations can take place virtually or in-person (in public places, like coffee shops or libraries).
We ask for a minimum of one hour per week commitment for four months of meetings. You would facilitate conversations with the learner, providing encouragement, feedback, and guidance with setting and working toward goals.
The learner might ask questions about the English language, living and working in Canada, meeting with their children’s teachers, attending a social or community event, or speaking with colleagues.
Your weekly meetings could include assigning homework, creating short lessons, watching videos, reading short stories, or taking turns with “show and tell.”
