   About the Position

Impact Statement
Help support children with reading, writing, math, science, etc.

Description
This position supports a community-based program which encourages children and youth to develop self-confidence, positive social skills and encourage their academic learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide academic support to elementary students in grades 1-8. Math, reading, writing/spelling, French, history, geography, etc.
Must be able to volunteer for the duration of the session (8 weeks).
Program runs 4-6 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience with children/youth is an asset
General understanding of academic learnings of elementary school
Good interpersonal skills, patient and reliable
Ability to interact with a diverse population with sensitivity and without judgement

Age: 15+

COVID-19 Vaccination Required: Yes

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: The Community Development Worker will provide on-site orientation, on-going support and supervision.
Working Conditions: Program will take place at 2 locations:
- Paulander Community Centre in Kitchener
- Erb West Community Centre in Waterloo
Accessibility: Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Evening
Erb West Community Centre - Mondays, 4-6 pm.
Paulander Community Centre - Tuesdays, 4-6 pm.
*Must be able to commit for the full 8 weeks
