   About the Position

Impact Statement
Carizon is a multi-service community organization committed to improving the future of individuals and families through supportive, therapeutic and preventative programs.

*Please note: We hope to offer this program in-person but we may have to offer it virtually due to Covid-19. Details will be updated shortly.

This position supports a community-based program which encourages children and youth to develop self-confidence, positive social skills and encourage their academic learning. Key responsibilities include:

Provide academic support to elementary students in grades 1-8. Math, reading, writing/spelling, French, history, geography, etc.
Must be able to volunteer for the duration of the session (6-8 weeks).
Volunteer Shift - 3:30-6:30 approx. Program runs 4-6 pm
Previous experience with children/youth is an asset
General understanding of academic learnings of elementary school
Good interpersonal skills, patient and reliable
Ability to interact with a diverse population with sensitivity and without judgement

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: The Community Development Worker will provide an orientation, on-going support and supervision.
Working Conditions: Program will take place at the Erb West Community Centre. The main floor of the centre is accessible. A bright and welcoming environment for the neighbours and volunteers.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Support Newcomers

Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Evening
Mondays; 3:30-6:30, program runs 4:00-6:00 pm
