   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Youth Advisory Council is an opportunity for creative teens (12-18) to contribute positively to their public library by working on special projects, such as creating a podcast episode, the Teen Summer Challenge, and other creative initiatives.

Description
. Create an audio podcast episode over the school year about book reviews, resource recommendations, or your experience of being a teen
. Help the library plan the Teen Summer Challenge, including the creation of the challenges, graphic design related to the website & promotional materials, and the overall theme for the summer
. Work on other creative projects, which may include creating book displays, contributing to teen programming, and more.
. Submit completed projects to the Librarian, Teen Services via e-mail

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Successful candidates will receive the Volunteer Handbook and specific training on the Youth Advisory Council.
Working Conditions: This will be a in-person opportunity at Central Library.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Weekday - Evening
• Attending one in-person meeting per month at Central Library (85 Queen Street North, Kitchener, ON) from October 2024 – June 2025, Mondays at 4:30 pm
