Description Do you want to volunteer from home? Do you want to feel the rewards that come from helping others reach their goals from the comfort of your living room? Do you want to encourage, educate and change the lives of others during quarantine?
If you consider yourself an inspiring mentor and want to share your skills and experience in order to help other adults, we have the position for you.
We are looking for volunteers to provide one-to-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their reading, writing, math and other essential skills to enrich their life at home, work and at school.
Across our region, we are all experiencing a period of lockdown in the light of COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to keep our learners and volunteers connected and to enable the continuous process of learning TLG is changing the delivery of services making use of digital technology.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Orientation, training and mentoring are provided.
• All volunteers will complete TLG online training • All volunteers will complete Laubach Certification Workshop. Due to Covid-19 this training will be delivered online in 2-3 sessions by invitation • All volunteers available to deliver video conferencing will be trained on the Zoom platform after agreeing with TLG terms and conditions and by signing a Zoom User Agreement
Working Conditions: • Maintain student confidentiality at all times • Follow TLG’s safety and privacy policies • Deliver 2-3 hours per week of one-to-one tutoring (can be divided into several sessions or completed in one, as decided on by tutor and student) • Follow the individualized learner plan developed by the Program Coordinator • Develop and deliver customized lesson plans based on the learner plan and resources provided • Modify delivery style (with TLG staff assistance) to accommodate varying skills and needs of the student • Encourage the use of written materials and technology during the tutoring process when appropriate • Mentor the student in the use of technology for learning and life-skills purposes when appropriate • Provide monthly updates of student progress to the Program Coordinator • Exchange best practices with other tutors and staff for further student and tutor development • Inform the Program Coordinator immediately if an uncomfortable or emergency situation arises • Inform the Program Coordinator immediately if taking a break from tutoring. A two-week notice is required to ensure the continuation of student leaning • Provide feedback to TLG staff for continuous improvement of program
