Volunteer to support our community's growing wellbeing and mental health needs.

Description
The Paulander Game On! Program is a weekly program aimed at youth 8+ who live in the Paulander community in Kitchener. The program is recreation-based and is diverse in the activities run; they can range from arts and crafts to movies and cooking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Develop a supportive relationship with youth and act as a positive role model.
-Develop and co-facilitate group activities that are engaging, positive and responsive to the needs and interests of the participants.
-Always ensure the safety of participants.
-Assist with any set-up and clean-up, snack preparation and distribution.
-Create a welcoming environment for children/youth.
-Attend your scheduled shift and keep track of your time; enter hours using volunteer portal.
-Notify staff when absent.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: On-the-job orientation; program facilitator present.
Working Conditions: -Must be 16 years of age and demonstrate strong reliability.
-Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check required if 18+ ($20 with agency letter).
-Comfortable working with children/youth and able to set boundaries.
-Friendly, patient, flexible and enjoys having fun!
-Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment, communicate with youth openly and without judgment.
-Sensitivity to diverse cultures, low-income living, mental health struggles and the impact these can have on children/youth.
-Reliable, weekly commitment required.

Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening
Kids Club - Thursdays, 6:00-8:00 pm - 3 volunteers needed
Youth Club - Tuesdays, 6:00-8:30 pm - 1 volunteer needed
Volunteers are to meet at Erb West Community Centre
