   About the Position

Impact Statement
Emergency Room volunteers provide customer service to our patient and family members while waiting for care and treatment. Staff are greatly appreciative of the support our volunteers provide. Shifts are from 9:00-12:00, 12:00-4:00 and 4:00-8:00 seven days a week. A nine month commitment to volunteering is required.

Duties include assisting patients with completing forms, offering support to those in the wait area, providing friendly visits to those who are waiting testing or results, relaying information from staff, and providing other assistance to patients as required.

This position is an excellent way to gain exposure to the hospital environment and make a difference in patient care. We are looking for a volunteer who is reliable, caring, compassionate, able to uphold confidentiality policies, has excellent communication skills, and is committed to excellence.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training includes General Orientation to St. Mary's General Hospital and hands-on training with an experienced volunteer for one or more shifts.
Working Conditions:

Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Weekday - Daytime
Shifts are once per week and are three to four hours in length for a minimum of nine months.
