Leader or Side-Walker
Therapeutic Horseback Riding Fall 2023 Session
Impact Statement Pride Stables offers therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with disabilities through our heavily volunteer-based program. Volunteers assist riders with disabilities during our classes by leading the horse or side-walking along side the rider. We can't do what we do without our amazing volunteers!
Description Regular programming starts Monday, September 25th and runs for 8 weeks.
Volunteers are needed to lead horses or side-walk for riders with special needs. No prior horse experience necessary. Volunteers must be 15 years old or older. As a leader you need the ability to understand & carry out direct instructions. As a side-walker you need to comprehend instructions & pass them onto the rider & may also need to physically assist/support the rider. Both positions require physical endurance, verbal skills, and excellent English comprehension.
We run seasonal riding sessions of 8 weeks in length. Classes are 60 min each and run on select weekdays and evenings plus Saturdays. Volunteers arrive 30 min ahead of time to prepare horses. We ask volunteers to commit to at least one class per week for the duration of a full season.
