   About the Position

Impact Statement
As a registered charity, Spectrum relies on a strong Board of Directors to govern the organization. Board members help ensure governance of Spectrum so the organization can provide services and programs for the benefit of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in Waterloo Region.

Description
We are looking for individuals with the following experience or skills: finance and accounting, IT, legal and liability, or governance.

This is a great opportunity to network and build connections within the community. As an active member of the Board of Directors (BOD), you would be attending monthly meetings and participate in a board committee such as HR, Fundraising and Development, or Financial Management.

The successful candidate will be asked to make a minimum commitment of two years with approximately four to six hours of work monthly.

We strive to have our Board represent the community we serve as fully as possible. Therefore, we are especially interested in hearing from candidates who identify as non-binary and/or Black, Indigenous, or racialized.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: The organization's leadership will train the chosen candidate in the needs and functions of the role.
Working Conditions: Board members must be contributing members of the organization through a contribution of any amount or volunteering at least 30 hours each fiscal year (August-July). Board terms are two years long, and no member may serve more than six terms. Spectrum’s Board can have up to 15 members at a time.
Expectations include some proficiency with office work, technology access from home and some computer skills required.

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime
The Board typically meets on the third Sunday of each month at 10am. Committee meetings typically take place in the early evening on weekdays.
