This is a youth led program that focusses on the aspects of belonging in comunity. It is directed towards newcomer youth and families who are looking for services in their community, and able to become a part of canadaian culture without feeling the need to assimilate. We run this program in the Fall and winter months, with topics of conversation varying greatly, depending on the interests of the youth who are leading the program. This is a great way to get volunteer hours for school, while learning more about the commuity around you here in Waterloo Region! |
Board games and mingle is an intergenerational program that focusses on building relationship and friendships in community through a low stress and fun environment. We wanted to help make a space where seniors and youth could come together and break social isolation together. This program runs in the summer months, and is run in a drop-in format; you can show up when you want, leave when you need to, and don't feel obligated to show up to every session. If you want to have a fun introduciton into volunteering, this is a great program for you! |
The Welcoming Table was designed by youth that wanted to address several issues that they noticed in their school: Food insecurity, safe spaces for newcomers and others, and the ability to make firends with others. This program, run directly in schools, is a way that youth who are looking for a safe harbour (and snacks!) can come, be part of a community, and earn volunteer hours through community participation. If you are looking to be a leader for the welcoming table, reach out to us, and we will see if we can work with you to run this program with you as well! |
