Since 1984, Volunteer Waterloo Region has been the central hub for volunteerism in our community—connecting people with meaningful opportunities and strengthening the impact of local organizations. As one of many volunteer centres across the province and country, we champion volunteerism by promoting best practices, advancing learning in the nonprofit sector, and supporting individuals and organizations on their volunteer journeys.
Today, we proudly support more than 160 charities and nonprofits across Waterloo Region, representing sectors such as arts and culture, health, social services, education, and the environment. These organizations—and the volunteers who power them—help make our community a place where people want to live, work, and raise families.
Volunteer Waterloo Region continues to lead with innovation in the social service sector. We advocate for the value of volunteerism through technology, partnerships, and evolving programs that respond to community needs.
We promote, engage, connect, and coach—bringing together people and purpose to build a more resilient, welcoming Waterloo Region.
We acknowledge that the land on which Volunteer Waterloo Region works and provides services is in the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishnaabe, and Chonnonton. We acknowledge the enduring presence of the Indigenous people with whom we share this land, their achievements, and their contributions to our community. We offer this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples of Canada.
