We support adults who want to upgrade their skills in reading, writing, numeracy, computer and workplace essential skills. The delivery of our services is possible through the dedicated collaborative work of our experienced staff and volunteers.

Description
Provide one-to-one tutoring in reading an writing.
Teaching qualifications and experience an asset but NOT REQUIRED.
Follow learning plans and resources provide by TLG staff.
Create lesson plans that motivate and engage the student
Keep organized records of contact and progress
Basic computer skills required
Excellent communication skills(verbal and written) required
Be prepared to be a life-long learner - each learner/tutor match may involve developing new tutoring skills and knowledge.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: All one-to-one tutors will complete TLG online training.
All one-to-one tutors will complete Laubach Certification Workshop.
All one-to-one tutors will receive Zoom training.
Additional training and professional development opportunities are frequently available.
Working Conditions: Private one-to-one tutoring rooms at TLG or at local libraries.
No home tutoring permitted.
One-to-one matches also in Zoom.
2 - 4 hours per week
1-year commitment preferred
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months
Anytime
2-4 hours per week ( 2 tutoring and 2 hours of preparation/planning)
6-month commitment minimum
1-year commitment is preferred.
