   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Sun Life Waterloo Busker Carnival is a renowned not-for-profit, volunteer-driven event celebrating street performance art since 1989. The carnival features a diverse range of international artists, from acrobats and comedians to fire breathers, offering free entertainment to families in Uptown Waterloo.

The 2025 carnival runs from Thursday August 21 to Sunday August 24.

Applications must be submitted by Friday February 14.

Description
The Director of Administration is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the carnival's organizational processes. The role reports to the Chair of the carnival’s executive committee.

Key Responsibilities:
• Schedule and coordinate planning meetings for the carnival committee.
• Book facilities for meetings and other carnival-related activities.
• Take accurate minutes during meetings and distribute them promptly to all relevant parties.
• Provide administrative support to the Chair as needed.
• Handle correspondence and other administrative duties to support the carnival's operations.

Qualifications:
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent note-taking and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for scheduling, document management, and communication.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
• Flexible and proactive approach to support a wide range of administrative tasks.

This is an annual commitment with peak activity periods during the lead up to the event in August. The hours each year vary based on meeting schedules and administrative tasks but typically are between 30 and 40 hours annually. The executive committee meets weekly during July and August and monthly prior to that.
