Impact Statement Volunteering at Langs provides opportunities for community members to give back to their community while developing leadership skills and gaining hands-on work experience.
Volunteers talk about the benefits of volunteering from meeting new people to developing new skills, all while having fun! Langs hosts a variety of student placements with high school, college and University Programs. Volunteering times during weekdays and weekday evenings, sorry no regular weekend volunteer opportunities.
*** Preference is given to candidates who live in our catchment area and who are applying for positions that are vacant. Please note, Langs receives a large amount of applications and contact eligible candidates in a timely manner. ***

Description As a standing member of the North Dumfries Advisory committee s/he shall recommend, plan, coordinate, and evaluate programs/services that are offered by Langs residents, staff, and community partners.
1. To work in partnership with staff and Langs Board of Directors to ensure that the strengths and needs of the participants and the community are identified and met within the resources of the organization
2. To ensure that the voice of the community residents and participants is considered by providing input and making recommendations in all aspects of planning, delivery and evaluation and Langs programs and services
3. To review proposals for programs/services from residents, staff, community partners and action teams and make recommendations to the Board of Directors
4. To ensure that Langs programs/services support the agency’s vision, mission statement and goals

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: * Volunteer handbook * Volunteer policies and procedures manual * Orientation videos * Langs new staff, volunteers and placement student orientation day session (optional) Working Conditions: Currently, the committee is meeting virtually on a bi-monthly basis on the first Wednesday of the month; meetings are held Sept. to June. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed. Meeting times are 10:00-11:30am. Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Weekday - Daytime Virtual Meetings are from 12:30-2:00pm on the first Monday of each month.
