   About the Position

Impact Statement
SPECTRUM is Waterloo Region's first ever LGBTQ2+ / Rainbow community space!

SPECTRUM is seeking volunteer Grant Writers to join its Financial Development Committee. As a registered charity, SPECTRUM relies on grant funding to help support the organization and its programs and services.

By volunteering on the Financial Development Committee you can help ensure that adequate funds are available to carry out the services and programs of SPECTRUM for the benefit of the LGBTQ2+ community in Waterloo Region.

Description
The Grant Writer will be responsible for working with the Development Officer and Executive Director to identify grant opportunities, write applications, and write reports.

We need a detail-oriented volunteer who has information-gathering and proof-reading skills. We require prior experience with financial development and with grant writing.

We require dedicated volunteers with 5-10 years of previous experience in writing business proposals. Strong writing skills and experience in creating detailed budgets are a must. We prefer candidates who have experience in creating requirements for technology solutions.

We require individuals with experience in developing detailed project plans, strong critical thinking and analysis skills.

The scale of grants that SPECTRUM will be seeking is in the range of tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. This will require significant commitments of time to complete.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Orientation in SPECTRUM’s history, programs and services and learn procedures by working with experienced members of the Financial Development Committee.
Working Conditions: During the pandemic all work will be conducted virtually so the volunteer will need to have access to their own computer with internet access and the ability to participate in Zoom meetings.

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Anytime
The time commitment varies considerably depending on the time of year. Around 40-160 hours per grant application with an expectation of writing two to four grants per year.

We are asking for a commitment to this position of at least 12 months.
