Description The online Homework Club is a virtual homework program run by Frontier College in partnership with the Somali Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (SCAWR). This evening homework club was developed to address the needs of newcomers and refugees from East Africa. The program serves all new immigrants in Waterloo Region. The focus of the program is to provide academic support to students in grades 2 - 12. Volunteers work one-on-one helping via Zoom students with math, science, reading, and writing.
Must be 16 years of age or older to apply.
This volunteer position is currently accepting applications for our winter session running from the week of January 25 until the week of March 29. (no program March 16 & March 18 due to March Break).

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Required 2-hour volunteer tutor training to be held during the week of January 25 2020. You must attend this tutor training session, along with a 20-minute interview (conducted virtually), in order to become a virtual volunteer tutor. All volunteers must have a current Police Vulnerable Sector in order to tutor. Working Conditions: Virtual program (Via Zoom) Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers

Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less Weekday - Evening The program runs 6:15pm-7:45pm Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Volunteers may pick one night only.
