   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Grand Valley Trail was built and maintained through a large network of volunteer maintenance workers who ensure a strong and safe trail system. A volunteer Board of Directors administers this not-for-profit organization and therefore we would not exist if not for our enthusiastic volunteers. As a Marketing Director, you will ensure all promotional materials are consistent, appealing, and suitable in style and content; create standardized promotional presentations, which focus on developing the GVTA as a public resource.

Description
In this role, you will also cultivate relations with public agencies including municipal and regional governments, the GRCA, and foundations in order to obtain cooperation, funding and expertise for the GVTA. As well, you will liaise with public media by direct contact providing press releases, and holding press conferences.

Strong communications skills are required, and previous marketing experience is a definite asset.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: You will be required to attend a Planning Meeting in July, and the Annual General Meeting held in the spring (usually May).
Orientation to the organization, board and the technology is provided.
Working Conditions: With the exception of board meetings 10 times a year, most volunteer work is done independently at your home or office at your convenience between meetings. The director must have access to a phone, a computer and the internet. At this time, our board meetings are virtual and many of our events are in-person within the Kitchener-Waterloo-Brantford area. As needed, the Marketing Director would be required to find a suitable location, for example, a coffee shop, to meet with volunteers s/he oversees.

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more

The Board of Directors meet the second Tuesday evening of the month, for 10 months of the year (not January and July) for approximately 2 hours. The expectation would be that the Director completes at least 12 hours of independent volunteer work a month outside of these meetings.
