Impact Statement: The Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support is a community-based organization that inspires hope and helps to create a welcoming, compassionate and inclusive Waterloo Region for refugee claimants. MCRS supports refugees through their claim process, provides settlement support, builds communities of mutual support and works to educate and encourage community mobilization, helping to facilitate a positive transition for refugee claimants in the community.
Description: The Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support (MCRS), is seeking volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors for a 2-year period.

The Board Member helps to define the vision & mission of the organization, formulate and oversee the policies & procedures by which MCRS does its work, and assure that we work within these parameters and those defined by all relevant statutes. Additionally, the Board adopts and oversees the annual budget. The Board represents the community in safeguarding the assets of the organization and utilizing them well.

Qualified candidates will:
- be passionate about ensuring welcome & justice for refugee claimants,
- be willing to network on behalf of MCRS for fundraising, events and other activities,
- have knowledge/ be skilled in not-for-profit and charitable governance,
- be familiar with MCRS work,
- have some knowledge/skills/experience in community-based social service.

Having prior experience is an asset, though not required
Training Details: Training and orientation provided.

Time Detail: 4-6 hours per month with a 2 year commitment
