Position: English Teacher - Outreach Program
Location: 675 Queen Street South, Suite 201. Kitchener, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: Help newcomers who cannot attend English classes or need extra support to learn English in a comfortable environment.
Description: Each English teacher will have a class of 1 to 3 newcomers. The 1 hour classes will take place twice a week and will be hosted in the newcomers' homes. The initial commitment is 3 months, but teachers are welcome to continue with students beyond that time period if the student wants to continue to learn. Teachers are expected to develop their own basic curriculum, and are welcome to take their students on short field trips out of the home when they get comfortable with the class.
Training Details: Each volunteer will receive a 1 hour Reception House Orientation. When teachers are introduced to the families that they will work with, further instructions are given.
Working Conditions: You will meet in the newcomer family's home.
Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Anytime
Time Detail: Classes can be held at times that suit the volunteer's schedule
