Position: Earth Day Cleanup Volunteer - Earth Day Shoreline Cleanup
Location: Moyers Landing, Fountain Street South, Cambridge, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: Founded in 2001, rare Charitable Research Reserve is a charitable organization that owns, stewards and protects a 900+ acre land reserve along the Grand River. You will be assisting with cleanup in the Preston Flats area of the property. Preston Flats is a floodplain habitat situated at the confluence of the Grand and Speed Rivers, an important foraging area for birds during migration and in the winter.
Description: Join us in cleaning up a shoreline that numerous birds and other wildlife depend on! This area is often littered with garbage from upstream after spring flooding. Volunteers will be picking up garbage and getting the area cleaned up for spring.
Training Details: No training or orientation is required. Garbage and extra gloves will be provided if needed.
Working Conditions: This is a shoreline area, so it may be wet and muddy. Long pants, sturdy shoes or rubber boots are recommended. There will be a portable washroom on site.
