Position: Full Day - Camp Leader - JA Fish Tank Summer Camp (Week 1 - Waterloo)
Location: 564 Weber St N, Waterloo, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: Junior Achievement provides relevant business programs to youth through the help of volunteers. Gain 40 hours of volunteer work in one shot with "Fish Tank" Camp! Bring a friend and volunteer together. Camp is a fun thing to be a part of!
Over the course of a camp week, campers take part in several activities and small business tours to learn the process involved in manufacturing or producing a product, along with the challenges of running a small business. Campers will learn about the importance of Social Entrepreneurship and giving back to the community. The week will end with a sales blitz where campers promote and sell the handmade products they have worked on during the week to consumers in downtown Kitchener, Waterloo, or Cambridge; taking home their profits at the end!
Description: Camp Leaders are responsible for overseeing various aspects of the JA Camps, under the direction of the Camp Coordinator. This position is very involved with camper engagement and supervising during the weeks of camp. Leaders will be responsible for ensuring the overall engagement, safety and welfare of all youth participants. He/she is actively involved in the day-to-day activities, they will manage camper behaviour, act as role model for campers, go on tours of local businesses, and participate in special guest presentations.
Training Details: Certification in First Aid with CPR C and AED is preferred, but not a requirement.
Working Conditions: You will be working with JA staff, Camp Coordinator, other Camp Leaders, campers (ages 9-13), local business owners and guest presenters.
