Impact Statement maintaining healthy and safe communities through crime prevention

Description We are seeking a volunteer to join our Youth Justice Committee. With the dedication of community volunteers, this program offers alternatives to the formal court process where community conferences bring together the youth and their support people to assist the youth in repairing the harm caused. Youth Justice Committee members represent the community and its' vicitms and together with the youth, sanctions are established to complete for the program. Needs of the victim, families, communities and youth are explored and taken into consideration. Sanctions may include such things as meeting with the victim, restitution, letters of apology, essays and attending special programs.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Successful applicants will complete and agency orientation and required policy review. YJC members are required to complete in house training sessions before starting in the role. Working Conditions: Meetings are currently conducted in virtual format. Transportation: NONE Needed

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening Meetings may be scheduled during daytime hours but mainly take place after school/work hours when youth and families are available. Meeting notices are sent out in advance to the volunteers to seek availability for the individual meeting. Generally meetings are scheduled Monday to Thursday.
