   About the Position

Impact Statement
Volunteers play a valuable role at both houses; their support is vital and integral to the ongoing operation of the hospice and is greatly appreciated.

Description
Innisfree House Hospice is looking for direct-service Resident Care volunteers to provide compassionate care for our residents at end-of-life.
Volunteers provide psycho-social support at the bedside which may including the following: active listening, reading, writing, assisting in our Art from the Heart Legacy Program, or simply providing a supportive and comforting presence. Volunteers might also assist with supporting practical care of residents.

Volunteers must be non-judgmental and have incredible listening skills, empathy, and understanding of boundaries. This role requires a high level of training and commitment.

In addition to regular shifts, we are also looking for volunteers with flexible schedules who would support our Art from the Heart legacy program.

Police Records - Vulnerable Sector check and up-to-date immunization records and Covid-19 Vaccination is mandatory.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: A combination of classroom and online training up to 35 hours in length is required and provided upon successful acceptance. Volunteers must complete Health and Safety training annually.
Working Conditions: Volunteers must be non-judgmental and have incredible listening skills, empathy, and understanding of boundaries. This role requires a high level of training and commitment. Work is directly in resident rooms with residents and their loved ones. Must be able to stand, sit, kneel and use dexterity.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
We are currently looking for volunteers to fill a variety of weekday and weekend shifts.
