   About the Position

Impact Statement
Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region - a non-profit organization committed to working side by side with families to promote inclusion and serve people with special needs - is seeking Members for its Board of Directors. EAF’s volunteer Board is made up of community members and supportive family members, who champion and advocate for the organization’s mission, vision and values on behalf of its membership, and guide the strategic direction for the organization.

Description
The following are the Key Responsibilities of our Board:

•Oversee the development of the Strategic Plan by participating in visioning, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threat) analysis and other activities designed to define and uphold organizational mission and values.

•Review staff reports, financial statements and monitor the implementation of the Strategic plan.

•Prepare for, attend and participate in Board meetings.

•Participate on one of the Board Committees: Governance, Human Resources or Finance.

•Participate in performance evaluations and succession planning for the Executive Director as required.

•Monitor and evaluate organizational risks.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Will be provided by Board Members and organization.


Working Conditions: Preparation, attendance and participation in Board meetings (scheduled on Saturdays) are required. Participation in one or more Board committees is expected. Participation in annual campaigns, fundraisers, ongoing advocate, staff recognition events etc. is appreciated.

Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening
1 Saturday each Quarter.
