Location Maplehurst Correctional Complex, Martin Street, Milton, ON, Canada
Impact Statement Community Justice Initiatives (CJI) The StrideMen program provides the essential practical and social support needed to help men break cycles and build more constructive and productive lives in the community. We support men re-entering the community by providing effective social supports that builds confidence and success and prepares the community to receive them.
Description StrideMen provides community based support for men who are in correctional facilities or community treatment. With the support of community volunteers, the goal is to build meaningful relationships with the residents through weekly activities such as: educational groups, games night, circle conversations, arts and sports. Once the men are to be released into the community and start their reintegration process, volunteers can provide ongoing support in the community in the form of a circle.

The program provides an opportunity to learn more about incarcerated men and to better understand community reintegration. Apply to become a volunteer and start making an impact in your community today.
Training Details Two nights of training at CJI usually in the evening approx. 2 hours in duration and an agency orientation is required. There is a cost for the reliability clearance and fingerprinting.

Training provides volunteers with an overview of issues and challenges faced by federally sentenced men, those battling with addictions, the federal justice system, and reintegration issues that men face upon release.
