   About the Position

Impact Statement
The transportation program, with the support of volunteer drivers, serves to meet the needs of older adults and adults with different abilities who have no other way to get to the important places they need to be. This service allows them to continue to live independently in the community.

Description
Volunteer drivers may provide transportation to the grocery store, adult day programs, medical and other appointments for clients within Waterloo Region for whom public transportation and other forms of transportation are inaccessible.

Other duties involve:
- Escorting clients safely to and from their homes to the important places they need to be
- Be punctual and dependable in picking up the client at the scheduled time
- Flexible time commitment - you let us know when you are available from week to week
- In-town or out-of-town rides, based on your preferences
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client information
- Keep the scheduling team informed regarding availability and immediately report any problems and/or concerns you may have.

EXTRA NEED FOR DRIVERS IN CAMBRIDGE AND DRIVERS WILLING TO DRIVE OUT OF REGION

Mileage reimbursements are available.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: All volunteers will receive agency wide and program specific training before their first shift.
The Program Coordinator is available to discuss any concerns and to provide ongoing support, as needed.
Community Support Connections offers regular volunteer educational workshops on various topics. All volunteers are notified of upcoming sessions.
Working Conditions: Rides will be completed in your own personal vehicle. In-town rides include transporting clients within Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, or North Dumfries and out-of-region rides may include trips to Guelph, Milton, Hamilton, London, or Toronto for specialist appointments.

Requirements:
- Access to a safe and reliable vehicle,
- Have a valid G class driver's license,
- Minimum $1 million in liability vehicle insurance,
- Acceptable Driver's Abstract Check and
- Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Transportation: Car required


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime
Flexible time commitment. You let us know when you're available, and we'll schedule your rides only during those times.
