Impact Statement Volunteers assist staff in our Community Alzheimer Program to interact with clients and provide an enjoyable day out for them. Gain experience in dealing with people who have dementia.

Description The Community Alzheimer Program is an adult day program for persons living in the community who have Alzheimer's disease. Volunteers are needed to assist clients with program activities and over mealtime. Patience, maturity and good listening skills are an asset. Weekly commitment required. Positions are available at all three sites: Our Franklin st. site in Kitchener, 150 Main Street in Cambridge, University Gates in Waterloo.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session. Another 1 hour training on assisting residents over mealtime are also required if assisting with meals. Working Conditions: The Community Alzheimer Program takes place at Sunnyside, 247 Franklin St. N., Kitchener. The volunteer may be required to walk with clients at various times, or deal with challenging behaviours of clients. Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening We are looking for Monday and Friday morning volunteers (9:30 - 12:30), and weekday afternoon volunteers (12:30 - 3:30).
