Description In partnership with local grassroots organizations and WRDSB, we have expanded access to tutoring support across Waterloo Region with tutoring sites at various locations throughout the Region as well as offering virtual tutoring.
Our Herbert Street hub offers a unique opportunity for tutors to provide on-site academic support to pregnant and parenting youth so they may achieve success and reach their goals.
In this role, volunteers will:
Provide academic support to middle and high-school students. -Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success. -Help students develop self-confidence and reduce anxiety and/or fear of failure in academic work. -Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
Tutors will join us Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Orientation will be provided. Staff will be available to provide ongoing support during sessions. Working Conditions: -Must be minimum 18 years of age and demonstrate strong reliability. -Satisfactory vulnerable sector check required. -Sound knowledge of elementary and/or high school course(s). -Good interpersonal skills, friendly, patient, and flexible. -Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment working with a diverse population. -Able to communicate with youth openly and without judgment. -As part of the Pregnant and Parenting Youth Program operating out of Herbert Street, we require a copy of -each volunteer’s Measles/Mumps/Rubella immunization and COVID-19 vaccination records. Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening We provide tutoring at several locations in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge from September to June. Program follows the school calendar, therefore program does not run on holidays.
Can't commit weekly? We are looking to build our substitute tutor roster.
