Description
Volunteers are needed to lead a program called Community Threads-Learn to Sew. This program focuses on basics of sewing while creating a beginner-friendly project. Volunteer instructors will teach participants to read a basic pattern, select the right fabric for their project, and operate a sewing machine in a warm and welcoming environment.

Volunteers must have an interest in working with community members of diverse backgrounds, have a high proficiency in working with sewing machines, and ability to communicate in a positive manner.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: All successful candidates must attend a volunteer training orientation conducted by the volunteer coordinator.
Working Conditions: • Volunteers are asked to commit to an 8 week program once per week. Each program is in person and runs for 1.5 hours.
• Volunteers are NOT required to do any lifting or setting up tables and chairs.
• All programs will take place indoors in a community centre program room.
• Volunteer Supervisor will be available by phone for oncall support and will check in with volunteer.
